Five Levels of Divinity Evinced by Periyazhwar |
Author : Mrs P. Bharathi |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Theology has been around since ancient times in human history. Vaishnavism is unique in the times when it blossomed in that sense. Vaishnavism is the religion in which Tirumal is the absolute deity. Servants who nurtured Vaishnavism were called ‘Azhwars’. Twelve Azhwars received the blessings of Tirumal who immersed the people in the Vaishnava faith. The collection of hymns they bestowed is called Nalayira Dhiviya Prabandham.
Vaishnava philosophies developed through philosophical discourses and commentaries. The rhymes of the Azhwars embody the concept of philosophy. One of the peculiarities of
Vaishnavism is that the Lord has five stages. These stages are the state of transcendence (vastness), the state of the ocean (strategy), the state of birth (vipavam), the state of
karandurai (interdependence) and the hierarchy (archai). These five types are glorified in the hymns of Periyarwar. In that sense, this article explains the levels of divinity and other related concepts found in the Periyazhwar poems.

The Origins of Tolkappiyam |
Author : S. Mahesh Pandi & Dr S. Nainar |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Literature and grammar originate from society and are based on the flourishment of arts and literature. Thus, “Tolkappiyam” is a symbol of the Tamil language and a treatise
about the pride of the language and literary merit of the Tamils. Tamil linguistics and life are reflected in this work. A philologist or a literary creator is the one who is the master of a
certain language. When trying to examine work on the basis of language, one can find the origin and development of the language and the interaction of another language. In that case,
Tolkappiyam is based on linguistic research that is largely based on the folklife of the Sangam Tamils. If we look at the words, they decode the origins of “Tolkappiyam” as Kumarimunai. Hence, this article expands on the hypothesis that the origins of “Tolkappiyam” could be Kumarikandam (Lemuria).
