Abstract :Countries need development policies to keep themselves alive in a changing and developing world. The tourism sector, together with globalization, has become an important actor in the development policies of the countries. In particular, the effective use of the rural development tools by the local administrations in the country creates the potential to be an important tool in promoting the rural development as well as the region. Considering rural development in this context and effective use of local administrations by other stakeholders will contribute positively to the economic development of locally and indirectly the country. Nowadays people are getting away from the cities in order to relax from the noise of city life, rushing and running, and spend their time in rural areas. This situation contributes positively to the revival of rural tourism. Local governments need to be more interested in rural tourism in order to make such short-term visits to the city more attractive. The primary purpose of the work prepared in this context is; rural tourism, which has numerous contributions to the economy of our country, reveals what kind of effects it has in local development. When the effects of rural tourism on rural development are examined within this scope, a general evaluation is given to the extent to which the rural tourism local government units will be brought into effect.
