Abstract :ABSTRACT The conception of time has an impact on the social life more than usually realized. The concept of time both diversifies our daily life experiences and can be used as a means of oppression. The impact of it is most visible on our memories. Thus, the linear-progressive comprehension of time and history is directed and devoted to going forward, and leaves the past behind. Remnants of the past that have shaped today are gradually wiped out by triumphant for their own interests. What is left are individuals who are deprived of experience and disconnected from the past dwelling in a dream. The remarks of Walter Benjamin offer invaluable means to awaken from that dream. It is only possible in the “present” to connect the past and today, claim what is torn off the memory, and awaken from the sleep. Therefore, the focus of my article will be on the “present.” |
