| The Influence of Principal s Leadership Style and Work Motivation on Teacher Performance at SMK Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi | Author : Muhammad Alang Khirun Nizar | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : This research uses a quantitative approach, where the symptoms will be measured using numbers. The results of this study, the multiple linear regression equation Y = 15,676 + 0.681X1 - 0.080X2. This means that the principal s leadership style variables and motivation have a significant relationship with teacher performance at SMK Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi. The coefficient determinant of R² is 0.502 or 50.2%. This means that the Principal leadership style variable (X1) and motivation (X2) can explain the teacher performance variable (Y) by 50.2%, the remaining 49.8% (100% - 50.2%) is explained by other variables that not included in this study such as reward, punishment, communication, education level, years of service, work absenteeism rates, etc., which were not thorough in this study.
After testing the hypothesis that the calculated value of 5.529 was obtained. With a = 5%, dk = 46-3 = 43 obtained a table value of 1.681. From these figures it can be seen that tcount (5.529) > ttable (1.681), as well as the significance value of 0.00 <0.05, it can be concluded if the hypothesis is accepted. After testing the hypothesis that the t-value is -0.925. With a = 5%, dk = 46-3 = 43 obtained a table value of 1.681. From these figures it can be seen that tcount (-0.925) < ttable (1.681), as well as the significance value of 0.360 > 0.05, it can be concluded if the hypothesis is rejected. The third hypothesis proposed states that there is an influence of the Principal s leadership style and motivation on teacher performance at SMK Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi. After being tested the Fcount value was 23.703. With a = 5%, df1 = 3, df2 = 46-3 = 43 the Ftable value of 2.82 is obtained. From these figures it can be seen that Fcount (23.703) > Ftable (3.26), as well as the significance value of 0.000b < 0.05, it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted |
| Yard Biodiversity to Support Local Economic Development in Skouw Mabo Village, Muara Tami Sub District, Jayapura City, Papua Province, Indonesia | Author : Alfred Alfonso Antoh, Leonardo Elisa Aisoi | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The biodiversity of plants in the tropical forests of Papua is the time to be conserved using the yard approach. These plants have ecological benefits for environmental sustainability but also as wildlife habitat. The plants that are planted around community homes now also have an economic impact on the family to improve the family s economy. This study aims to obtain the value of yard biodiversity based on vertical diversity (strata) and functional diversity (horizontal) and to determine its benefits. Data collection using vegetation analysis methods and calculation of biodiversity values using the Shanon and Wiener indices. The results of the study are that there are 2 very dominant types of plants in the yard, namely areca nut (Areca catechu L.) with a summed dominance ratio (SDR) of 58.4-66.2. For other types there are Moringa (Moringa oleifera) with (SDR) 10.8. The conclusion of the dominant areca nut and moringa is closely related to culture and the two plants currently support economically for increasing the income of families in the village. |

| Ceramic Charcoal Stove in a Mixed Media | Author : Okonkwo, Ivan Emeka Ph.D, Ohaegbu Amarachukwu Grace | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The acquisition of electric and gas stoves has been a difficult problem for most people in the rural places, hence most of them have resorted to wood for cooking. This has contributed to depletion of our forest and its attendant environmental consequences. This situation has made the researchers to attempts at looking for a way to reduce the amount of wood/charcoal used by designing a charcoal used by designs a chemical stove. This Ceramic Charcoal Stove was designed and built with locally obtained raw materials; locally composed low-density bricks and fired with a down-draught kiln at 800 degrees Celsius. The study also revealed that, once the charcoal in this stove is ignited, it could boil water at 6-7mins. This is a solution for conservation of charcoal used while cooking because some people are scared of using gas to cook because of its hazardous disadvantages while many others do not have money for refilling the gas cylinder and people who live in the rural area where there is no electric power supply, for electric stove. This solution has been found to have a high efficient heat maintenance property for cooking food and keeping the body warm is a welcomed development. This study is hoped to aid the in furtherance of academic research in this field and other related areas. |
| Student’s Awareness in Basic First Aid and their Academic Performance | Author : Majal B. Monge, Rexomar D. Perez | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Emergency cases and any untoward incidents may happen anytime and anywhere. Thus, first aid is an invaluable skill one must learn. Since children spend considerable time at school, knowledge, and awareness in first aid is important especially in situations requiring the skill. This quantitative inquiry investigated the level of awareness of students in performing basic first aid and explores the relationship to their academic performance. It utilized a researcher-made questionnaire to answer the descriptive and inferential questions. It was revealed that students are in high level in performing first aid in burns, wounds and bleeding, and fracture considering the variables. Thus, a very satisfactory level was culled out. In addition, a significant difference exists in their level of awareness and academic performance of students when grouped according to sex, and section. But, there was a positive significant relationship between the student s awareness in performing first aid and their academic performance. Therefore, the two major areas have direct relationship. It is recommended that a regular emergency awareness campaign be conducted to students to maintain and improve to a highest level. | Decisions, Labor Contribution and Sustainability of Water Projects in Narok, Kenya | Author : Mr. Langat Nelson Kipkorir, Dr. Ismael O. Oduor, Dr. Kefa Chepkwony | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :In Kenya, most community-based water projects face sustainability challenges, thus prompting a need to examine the extent to which participation by beneficiaries’ influence sustainability of community water projects. If this is successfully addressed, then sustainable development of community water projects is likely to be achieved. The purpose of this study was to establish the influence of participation on the sustainability of community water projects in Narok County, Kenya. The study was anchored on Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) model. Quantitative research approach was used while the study adopted descriptive research design and explanatory research design. A sample of 384 subjects was through simple random sampling from a sampling frame of 15,500 elements using Cochran’s sample size determination formula in a population spread across the ten community water projects in Narok County, Kenya. Quantitative data was gathered by use of a questionnaire. Data was analyzed descriptively and inferentially. Inferential data was analyzed using mean scores and standard deviation. Data was also analyzed inferentially using correlation, regression and finally hypothesis testing was undertaken. Analysis showed r = -0.019, F (1,383) = 70.349, R2 = -0.019 at p = 0.01 < 0.05, H01 was rejected and it was concluded that there is a significant relationship between decision making and sustainability of community water projects. With r = 0.458, F (1,383) = 113.30, R2 = 0.10 at p = 0.01 < 0.05, H02 was rejected and it was concluded that there is a significant relationship between labour contributions and sustainability of community water projects. It was therefore recommended that community members who are such project beneficiaries be involved in decision making and where possible contribute towards project implementation right from inception to termination in order to create a sense of ownership and hence sustainability of community water projects upon completion. |
