Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Supply Chain Performance (SCP) is affected by factors including supply chain structure, market conditions, among others. SCP will define profitability, growth, and sustainability, but is varied in level among different industries. The primary purpose of this explanatory sequential mixed-methods study was to determine the best fit model of Supply Chain Performance (SCP) in the manufacturing sector of Region XI in the Philippines. The survey was administered to 332 manufacturing companies across the region employing stratified random sampling. After analyzing the quantitative data through structural equation modeling, us17 interviewees selected from the 332 respondents, were subjected to an in-depth interview, and focus group discussion for validation of the results. The data obtained from the interview were analyzed through thematic analysis. The quantitative results revealed that out of the five exogenous variables tested for the best fit model on SCP, only three came out as having direct influence, to wit: buyer-supplier relationship (BSR), integrated information system (IIS) as the best predictor, and logistics performance (LP). The modest direct influence of LP on SCP was strengthened with its indirect influence through IIS. Thematic analysis of the qualitative data unveiled the essential themes generally confirming the best fit model and its particulars. Connecting-merging-confirmation surfaced as the nature of data integration. |

External Borrowing, Government Expenditure and Road Construction in Nigeria |
Author : OYEDOKUN Godwin Emmanuel,ADEWINLE Olajide Martins |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :External borrowing is a significant source of government revenue, and the increase in the levels of foreign borrowing is taken as evidence of progress toward meeting economic and infrastructure goals. Despite the massive incidence of foreign borrowings, developing nations continue to lag behind established economies in terms of quality, quantity, and accessibility to the benefits of infrastructural development. Therefore, this study analyses the effect of external borrowing on government expenditure on road construction in Nigeria. The study is anchored on the debt crowding theory. In analyzing the effect of external borrowing on macroeconomic performance in Nigeria, an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model framework was employed. The data for the study is a time series trend from the 1991-2022 periods. The ARDL result in the long run, external borrowing and interest rate exhibit significantly negative influence on government expenditure on road construction, as a percentage increase in both variables is seen to reduce expenditure on road construction by 0.26 and 12.3 percent respectively. Conversely, exchange rate and inflation have a significantly positive relationship with expenditure on road construction. A percentage increase in the exchange rate will increase expenditure on road construction by 1.66 percent. Similarly, a percentage increase in inflation will increase expenditure on road construction by 1.3 percent. The study indicates that the Federal Government of Nigeria must be methodical in its funding sources to provide infrastructure development facilities. While external borrowing is necessary, looking inward to create more revenue ways should be considered because it is less expensive. It was stated that foreign borrowing had a negative yet significant impact on Nigerian road construction. |

Renewable and Non-Renewable Material Usage and Financial Performance of Listed Industrial Goods Firms in Nigeria |
Author : Anuolam, M. O,Ike R, C |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This study examines the effect of renewable and non-renewable material usage on the financial performance of industrial goods firms in Nigeria. Renewable and now-renewable materials usage included energy consumption while firms financial performance was measured by return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE) and earnings per share (EPS). Data were sourced from the annual reports and sustainability reports of the selected industrial goods firms for periods of 2011 to 2020. Data for renewable and non-renewable material usage (RNMU) were obtained through a content analysis approach while data for ROA and ROE were computed with the accounting figures derived from the firms annual reports. Panel Regression analysis was employed in analyzing the data collected. Results from the analysis revealed that RNMU exerted negative but insignificant effect on ROA, ROE and EPS. The implication of the findings is that the level of environmental information practices and disclosures of industrial goods firms in Nigeria, in terms of renewable and non-renewable materials usage is poor; and has not significantly supported the firms performance. The study recommends among other things that corporate firms in general and industrial good firms in particular should take the issue of environmental information disclosures serious, so as to enhance the confidence of the public on the operations of the firms, which will consequently translate to better performance of the firms; and that the legislative arm of the government should tighten the legislation on environmental information disclosures of corporate entities in Nigeria by making it compulsory with specific indices. |

Company Value is Influenced by Intellectual Capital, Funding Decisions, and Investment Decisions: Telecommunications Sub Sector Companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for The 2014-2021 Period |
Author : Jehan Attahirah,Jombrik, Irma Citarayani |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This study aims to determine the effect of Intellectual Capital, Funding Decisions, and Investment Decisions on Firm Value. The dependent variable in this study is Firm Value proxied by Tobins Q model. The independent variables in this study are Intellectual Capital proxied by VAIC (Value Added Intellectual Capital), Funding Decisions proxied by DER (Debt to Equity Ratio), and Investment Decisions proxied by TAG (Total Asset Growth). The sample in this study are companies in the Telecommunications Sub-Sector for the 2014-2021 period. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, 4 companies were selected as research samples, from a total population of 10 companies. The results of the analysis show that Intellectual Capital (VAIC) has a positive and significant effect on firm value (Tobins Q). This result illustrates that improving the quality of human resources in a company is very important and plays a role in efforts to increase firm value. Funding Decision (DER) has a negative and significant effect on firm value (Tobins Q) this illustrates that investors are very sensitive to increased debt which can lead to debt default and increased bankruptcy risk. Investment decision (TAG) does not affect firm value (Tobins Q). This situation illustrates that investment decisions as illustrated by asset growth are not a driving force for increasing firm value. This can be caused because if the asset is not productive, in the long term the accumulated value will be lower. |
