Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The loss occuring in the elbows during the pipe flow are calculated using the loss coefficient. However, these coefficient is constant and the features of the flow are not considered. In fact, the loss occuring in the elbow is the function of Reynolds number. Therefore, parameter like velocity of the flow and diameter of the pipe affects the loss coefficient directly. In this study, the numerical calculations was done for diffirent pipe size and was compared with coefficients in the literature. As a result of numerical analysis, it has been proven that loss coefficient in the elbows depends on the Reynolds number. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Pipelines are used for transporting gas and liquid fluids in very wide areas and at very different pressures and temperatures. When working on pipelines, a solution is sought to determine the optimum pipe diameter, determine the optimum insulation thickness and take the stresses in the most economical way. Pipe design mainly depends upon stress analysis. Process piping and power piping are checked by pipeline stress engineers to verify that the positioning, nozzle loads, supports are correctly positioned and selected, and that the permissible pipe is not exceeding the permissible values for different loads. Pipelines are governed by Industrial / International Codes and Standards. In this study, in reference to ASME B31.1 code which is one of these standards, the study examines the elastic properties of the steam turbine piping on the powership, the causes and effects of the loads on the equipment nozzle and the pipe displacements. At the same time, methods of calculating pipe stresses were calculated, which is a finite element pipe stress analysis program, and for two different pipe designs for susteined loads, occasional loads and thermal loads on the steam cycle piping on the power ship. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the pipe design depends on the pipe stress analysis, and analysis with the aid of finite element pipe stress analysis programs has provided a clear picture of the stresses on the pipe. |

Abstract :Establishing a basic and general criterion for the design of foundations depending on the type of supported equipment would be important by means of settling a standard for the applied work and weight saving by selecting the right profiles. A model design is performed by SAP2000 program, which is developed based upon finite element method, for the biggest foundation encountered on a floating energy central.
This structure, which is called exhaust tower, is designed to carry and support the equipment of exhaust system located on the main deck. |

Investigation of Unit Costs of Ro-Ro Transportation in the Sea of Marmara: Ambarli – Bandirma Route Line |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Today, about 90% of trade activities are carried out by sea, however the utilization ratio from maritime transportation for domestic transport in Turkey is quite lower than this ratio.
Considering negative aspects such as the growing traffic problem in highway transport and requirements for higher budget in the airway transportation among other transportation modes in our country which is surrounded by sea on three sides, maritime transport has become a preferred location. The investments regarding infrastructure in our coastal cities are significant due to the geopolitical position we have. Statistics on the number of passengers and vehicles transported in cabotage shared in the study have been a sign that the demand for sea transportation has continued to increase for years.
In this study, vehicle and passenger transportations in the sea of Marmara have been studied, economic analyses have been carried out for Ro-Ro ships sailing in the Ambarli-Bandirma route line by considering in 3 different categories and mentioned ships have been investigated in the scope of unit passenger transportation costs. It is pointed out that the most effective parameter for unit passinger transportation costs is fuel costs subject to the results of the analyses. Moreover, fullness ratio of the ships is also one of the prominent factors effecting transportation costs. As a result of the analysis carried out, it has been found that the transportation costs on the vessels decrease as the occupancy rate increases. It is seen that the transport ratio of passengers and vehicles has increased in the Marmara Sea over the years. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In this study; it was aimed to conduct a retrospective review of marine accidents and incidents resulting in death, injury or loss occurred on or involving the Turkish flagged ships in Turkish search and rescue area. For this purpose, the data on 182 marine accidents/incidents resulting in death, injury or loss occurred on or involving the Turkish flagged ships between 2012 and 2014 registered in the database of Main Search and Rescue Coordination Center were also analyse with SPSS 21 programme. |
