Opinions of Science, Biology, Geography and Social Studies Teachers on Teaching Biodiversity | Author : Murat BULUT, Senol BESOLUK | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This study is an interdisciplinary study that includes the teaching methods, techniques and materials used by teachers in the process of biodiversity and their recommendations for their colleagues in order to be successful in this subject, investigating the biodiversity in the regions where teachers work and examining the adequate and effective processing situations in their courses. The sample group of the study consists of twelve volunteer teachers from three biology, three geography, three sciences and three social sciences branches, who have worked in Turkey, Sakarya and its districts. This study, which was prepared on a qualitative axis, was a phenomenological study and the data were collected using a semi-structured interview form. The data were interpreted by using the content analysis method. A qualitative data analysis software is coded using the NVivo 10 program. As a result of the study, it was seen that teachers used different methods, techniques and materials when processing biodiversity. However, it was found that not all teachers were successful enough in diversifying these methods, techniques and materials. It has been seen that activities such as documentary watching, zoo and museum visits, and nature trips, which facilitate the understanding of biodiversity, can be done within the possibilities of very few teachers. According to the opinions taken from the teachers, it was understood that activities such as organizing trips and exhibitions, making training camps, giving seminars in schools, organizing seminars and visits to the zoo and museums should be done more in order to be able to process biodiversity efficiently and to create a conscious society on this subject. In addition, it was found that half of the participating teachers did not investigate biodiversity in the regions where they work, and it was noticed that the majority of teachers adequately studied the impact of biodiversity on society in their classes, but few teachers could handle this issue effectively. In accordance with the findings of the study, suggestions were made for future studies. In line with the findings of the study, suggestions for future studies were made. |

This study is a qualitative research used descriptive survey model. The study group consists of 74 primary school teachers. The forms with such expressions like "Achievement is like ......., Because …….” have been filled out by the participants. The forms filled out by the participants have been analyzed by content analysis method. In this study where 65 different metaphors were developed, the most repetitive metaphors were journey (6) and ladder (4). These metaphors are grouped under 7 conceptual categories considering their common characteristics. In this context, it can be said that primary school teachers perceive the concept of achievement as continuity and source of happiness. |

When the body of literature is examined, it is seen that there are difficulties in the application of the code of ethics on issues regarding “privacy”, “competence” and “multiple relations”. In addition, the fact that the borders have disappeared and individuals from different cultures have started to live together in our globalized world have led to an increase in individual and cultural differences in society and that the multiculturalism to gain more importance at schools. Therefore, the approach to the ethical principle in this matter has been regarded to be worth researching in that it has importance. In line with the purpose of the study, 5 semi-structured questions were prepared and expert opinions related to the issue were taken. | Investigation of Problems and Solution Proposals in the Context of Inclusive Education Practices | Author : Rabia ÜNAL, Soner ALADAG | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This research was carried out in order to determine the educational practices and problems of inclusive students of teachers who work in primary education institutions and to have inclusive students in their classes and to determine their expectations and solution suggestions for inclusive education. The study was designed with qualitative design and purposeful sampling method was used. In this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 classroom teachers working with inclusive students in Kayseri. In the preparation of the questions in the semi-structured interview form, relevant literature was searched and the opinions of the field experts were used. The data obtained from the research were analyzed by content analysis technique. It was aimed to identify the main themes and problems in the analysis of semi-structured interviews. Individual interviews were conducted during the data collection process. Codes and themes were created by the researchers by transferring the data to the computer. The categories and themes were organized systematically and frequently quoted from the views of teachers to ensure the reliability of the research findings. The teachers who participated in the study stated that they had problems with the inclusive students in the classroom, especially Turkish language problems, behavioral problems and lessons. They stated that inclusive students had economic and psychosocial problems and tried to solve these problems with the support of their colleagues and the activities of the ministry such as seminars and courses. As a result of the research, suggestions were developed to focus on the language education of inclusive students, to increase the material support for these students, to increase in-service training seminars for teachers, to develop projects and activities to integrate inclusive students and parents of inclusive students. |

The participants of the study consisted of 313 pre-service teachers who were enrolled in Sakarya University Faculty of Education in 2017-2018 academic year. The study was carried out in accordance with the cross-sectional model. “Teachers’ Information and Communication Technology Skills Scale” developed by Türel, Özdemir and Varol (2017) was used as the data collection tool in the current study. As a result of the research, it was seen that basic hardware operations, and personal information and communication technology use sub-dimensions of information and communication technology skills showed significant difference according to the gender variable. In addition, a significant difference was found in the sub-dimension of use of information and communication technologies for teaching purposes according to pre-service teachers’ department and grade. Furthermore, a significant difference was seen in the sub-dimensions of basic hardware operations according to educational social network use, use of personal information and communication technologies, information and communication technologies for teaching purposes. |
| Investigation of The Role of Media in The Process of Values Attainment According to The Views of Social Studies Teachers | Author : Tugba KAFADAR | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :In this study, it was aimed to examine the role of media in the process of values attainment according to the views of social studies teachers. The research was designed according to the phenomenology pattern from qualitative research designs. In the research, the data were obtained via the interview method. The data obtained from the research were analyzed with the descriptive analysis technique. According to the results of the research, the participants expressed that mostly the internet virtual world, telephone and then television, video, cinema and newspaper affected the students within the process of values attainment by the media communication instruments, and radio and magazine had the least effect; the media communication instruments used by the students the most frequently were telephone, television, the internet virtual world, and then video, cinema and magazine. According to the views of the participants, it was concluded that 10 participants pointed at the negative effect of media within the process of students values attainment, 2 participants believed in a partially negative effect. The following views were also obtained: the media positively affected the students in sharing and helping, then solidarity, respecting differences and gaining sensitivity values, and they were negatively affected in attaining the values of being ethical moral, respect, honesty, then love, peace, respect for privacy, responsibility, caring for family, being honorable, modesty and tolerance and fairness. |
