Abstract :This study aims to determine the factors that triggered a social revolution in Simalungun. Then to find out the process of a social revolution going on, and the impact it has on the social structure of Simalungun. The method used in this study is a historical method that includes four stages, namely heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and explanation This research shows the findings; the social revolution in Simalungun is a change in social structure with criminal actions based on the sentiments and revenge of certain groups. |

Abstract :This article discusses the social history of the Perlis Village community, Pangkalan Brandan in 1940-2004. The research method used is the historical method by utilizing written sources, such as travel reports, books, journals and maps. Oral information from locals and artifacts was also used as a source of writing. This study uses a social history approach that places society as the main study. The approach to social history is supported by the use of theories and concepts of social and cultural sciences. This study shows that Perlis was formed by various ethnic groups with the dominant role of immigrants from Perlis country, Malaya Peninsula, at the beginning of the formation of the community. The Malay ethnic community becomes the majority in Perlis with a livelihood as fishermen. The entry of Chinese in 1940, then followed by Javanese and Acehnese in 1960 added to the type of livelihood in Perlis. Population growth affects various economic sectors, from fisheries, livestock to agriculture. Perlis village is known for its various natural products, from fish, poultry to rice. Major changes occurred in 1990 to the beginning of 2000. The ethnic Chinese population urbanized and the paddy fields turned into oil palm plantations. This has an impact on the changing culture and traditions that are run by the residents of Perlis. |

Abstract :This article describes the process of forming Wehrkreise III as the East Priangan defense area and the transfer of the administrative center of West Java Province to Lebaksiuh in 1947-1948. The research method used is the historical method. The results of this study indicate that the onslaught of the Dutch military in West Java during the years 1947-1948 was faced by the struggle agencies by forming defense pockets called Wehrkreise III. Each defense bag can do its own guerrilla battle. The Commander of Wehrkreise not only oversees the struggle agencies but also oversees the civil administration in West Java. The Wehrkreise command center and the West Java provincial government center were initially in Tasikmalaya. But the Dutch military offensive made the Governor of West Java and the Wehrkreise commander move their seat to Lebaksiuh. This move was intended so that the republican government in West Java could continue to run because Lebaksiuh was a relatively safe area from Dutch attacks. |

Abstract :This article discusses the nautical culture of the Srivijaya community in pre-modern times. Narratives are built through a re-reading of scientific studies that review the archaeological findings originating from the Kingdom of Srivijaya. The archaeological findings were then analyzed using the human ecological theory of culture. This study shows that the Srivijaya people made the sea as a source of connecting life. The production orientation of the community such as fishing, local handicrafts, and other maritime expertise is for commodity trading in the main ports of the Srivijaya kingdom. Trade era has changed Southeast Asia and allowed it to become a global power in its time. This can be seen by the discovery of pictures of ships in temple reliefs and various archaeological findings. One of the skills that must be possessed by the community is expertise in shipbuilding. Ships made are used for various maritime facilities, both as a means of transportation between regions and between continents and also as a commodity sold in ports. |

Abstract :This article discusses the application of problem-based learning models in learning history on the class XI IPS at SMA Erlangga Pematangsiantar, and their effects on student history learning outcomes. The research method used was classroom action research conducted with two cycles. Data collection uses observation sheet instruments, interviews, written tests, field notes, and student worksheets. The results showed that the application of the problem-based learning model in historical learning was able to improve student learning outcomes. |

Abstract :This study aims to determine the effect of using a contextual approach based on critical thinking on the learning outcomes of the history of students at the Vocational Middle School Lubuk Pakam, Deli Serdang Regency. This study used a quasi-experimental method with the design of the two groups of pretest-posttest design. Based on the results of the study it was found that there were significant differences between student learning outcomes that followed learning with contextual approaches and historical learning outcomes of students who followed learning with conventional models. Student learning outcomes using a contextual approach are better than the students learning outcomes with conventional learning models. |

Abstract :This article describes the process of the development of Madrasah Jamiyah Mahmudiyah to become a modern Islamic educational institution in Langkat in 1921-1950. The results of this study indicate that the Madrasah Jamiyah Mahmudiyah experienced rapid progress throughout the years 1912-1942. With the number of students reaching 2,000 in 1930, the Madrasah Jamiyah Mahmudiyah was able to compete with formal educational institutions established by Dutch colonial governments, such as Langkatsche School, Europese Lagere School (ELS) and Holland Chinese School (HCS). The progress of Madrasah Jamiyah Mahmudiyah is inseparable from the role of Sultan Abdul Aziz who is very concerned about the progress of Islamic education in the area of the Langkat Sultanate. However, the condition of the madrasa began to decline since 1942, when Japan took over the authority of the Dutch. Even in 1950, this madrasah experienced a fire that consumed all classrooms. The fire was triggered by the explosion of weapons ammunition belonging to the Indonesian National Army which was stored in one of the classrooms. |

Abstract :This study aims to determine the role of Amri Tambunan in the period before and after becoming Deli Serdang Regent, knowing the condition of Deli Serdang in the first period 2004-2009, and the second period 2009-2014 during the leadership of Amri Tambunan. This research uses the historical method. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that Amri Tambunan was known as a North Sumatra figure, among others as the Chairperson of KAPPI Siantar (1964), Deputy Chair of PCNU Deli Serdang (1988), Deputy Chair of North Sumatra PWNU (1999), Chair of the North Sumatra Kepamongan Alumni Family Association (2010 to present), Mustasyar PWNU North Sumatra (2007 to present), and Chairman of the Honorary Board of the North Sumatra Democratic Party (2011-2016). In addition, Amri Tambunan also has a number of achievements in various fields from 2009 to 2013 at national and international levels, such as the Innovative Government Award (IGA) and the Darling Mother and Baby Hospital. |

Abstract :This article aims to look at the realities of Indian life in Deli tobacco plantations throughout 1872-1900. By using a research method that combines the historical study of East Sumatra plantation communities with the study of Indian coolies photos in the area taken from the Digital Collections Leiden University Libraries website, the reality of Indian coolies life has never been written by Indonesian historians. The daily reality of Indians captured in photographs is the everyday side of working in Deli tobacco plantations. Differentiation of work, appearance, and settlement based on race is a picture of their lives while living on plantations. While working on plantations, Indian coolies earned an inadequate wage and had to bear the tremendous burden of life. Through photo narration, it can be understood how the reality of the daily life of Indians in East Sumatra, which is currently a marginalized group in Indonesian history textbooks. |

Abstract :This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the Two Stay Two Stray learning model to the history of student learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 7 Medan. The research method used is quasi-experimental. The study population was students of class X IPS with a sample of 65 students consisting of 34 students of class X IPS 2 as an experimental class and 31 students of class X IPS 1 as a control class. Data collection techniques using observation and tests. The data obtained were analyzed using the t-test. The observation results showed that 91% of the experimental class students who took part in learning with the TSTS model got very good average scores. The average post-test value of the experimental class was 80.3, while the average value of the post-test of the control class that followed the learning with the conventional model was 63.70. T-test results for the post-test scores were obtained tcount > ttable (7,004 > 1,670).These results indicate that the TSTS learning model has a great influence in improving the history of student learning outcomes in class XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri 7 Medan. |

Abstract :This study aims to determine the effect of the Guided Note Taking learning model on the improvement of student historical learning activities at SMA Negeri 3 Lubuklinggau. The research method used is a quantitative method. The sample of this study was 33 students of class X IPS 3. Data collection techniques using observation sheet instruments. The data obtained were analyzed using relative frequency percentages. The results showed that the Guided Note Taking learning model applied in the history learning process in class X IPS 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Lubuklinggau was able to increase student learning activities. This is evidenced by the value of the percentage of student learning activities that increased from 81.72% at the first meeting to 91% at the second meeting or increased from the good to very good category. |
