Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :A 40-year-old men presented to the emergency for digestive bleeding (hematemesis). Hemoglobin level was 11g / dL Upper endoscopy showed an ulcerated gastric submucosal tumor of 4 centimeters of the antrum. CT scan found the gastric tumor which was hypodense and heterogenous and revealed no apparent metastasis. Echoendoscopy confirmed the presence of submucosal hypergenic hetereogenous tumor mesasuring 4cm seeming to develop on the 3th layer. Mucosal biopsy was negative. Patient underwent surgery (partial gastrectomy). Histological examination confirmed the submucosal lipoma. Outcome was favorable after surgery. |

Formulation and Evaluation of Ophthalmic Antibacterial Gels and Comparison of Different Polymers Using Factorial Design |
Author : Alka Ahuja |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Different formulations for the treatment of eye infections are usually administered in the form of conventional ocular drug delivery systems which are topical eye drops or ointments. Typically ophthalmic bio-availabilities of only 1–10% are achieved due to the short precorneal residence time of ophthalmic solutions. The preparation and evaluation of gel containing antibiotic azithromycin combined with different polymers like Carbopol, sodium alginate and Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) were done and assessed to find out which polymer could best be used in preparing ophthalmic gels for this antibiotic using factorial design. Since the efficacy of these gels is dependent on factors like viscosity and pH, the polymers in these gels were also examined for different parameters such as pH, in vitro release, permeation and microbiological evaluation. |

Safety of Laparoscopy in Patients with Advanced Liver Cirrhosis: Case Report and Literature Review |
Author : Abbas AR Mohamed |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Liver cirrhosis was previously considered as an absolute contraindication to laparoscopic surgery because of its associated coagulation defects, portal hypertension, and nutritional disorders. Recently laparoscopy is being used increasingly in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with liver cirrhosis because of introducing low risks anesthetic agents and drugs, and less invasive surgical techniques. At present, it is well established that although the risk of laparoscopy in cirrhotic patients, is real, it is not significant enough to contraindicate the procedure. Laparoscopic surgery in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis is have been discouraged because of the high morbidity and mortality. We report a case of advanced cryptogenic decompensated liver cirrhosis who had laparoscopic retrieval of the intra-abdominal foreign body without postoperative complications or deterioration of his liver functions. We also review the literature for the safety of laparoscopy in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis. |

Author : Rasso Asmae |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :A 3 years-old girl, born of a 25-year-old mother, and of 30-year-old father, with a 1st degree consanguineous marriage. She was born full term after an uneventful pregnancy. The parents consulted pour management of skin lesion. with no associated functional signs including no mental retardation, no epilepsy. they report that her skin had been fiery red at the birth time and vesicles had developed shortly afterwards. Then the lesions had cleared gradually and left linear hypo-pigmentation. On clinical examination, showed a facial asymmetry, especially mandibular. Hypopigmented atrophic streaks were seen in her face abdomen, back and limbs, with a baschko-linear path. And she had a syndactyly from the toes of the feet. And. The disease was diagnosed as Incontinentia pigmenti (IP). The ophthalmic exam was normal. Her genetic counseling was otherwise normal. A dental radio-panoramic, and MRI of the cerebral, and lumbosacral spine have been requested. |
