Abstract :Introduction:
Non-tumoral urethral strictures are a rare clinical entity in women with little literature.
Observation:
We report a case of a 56-year-old woman who consults for acute retention of urine with impossibility of sounding, preceded by dysuria. She had an unexplained retention episode 8 years ago without urologic investigations.
Conclusion:
Urethral stricture is an infrequent condition in women, the most dangerous etiology being stenosis of cancerous origin. Non-malignant tumoral causes such as that reported in our observation are exceptional. |

Reno Cardiologist Confirms FMTVDM – Opening New Opportunities for Nuclear Cardiologists |

Abstract :Background: A quantitative myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) and oncologic - including molecular breast imaging (MBI) - utility patent (FMTVDM*) previously validated at experienced MPI and MBI centers was independently tested for clinical application at a private practice Reno, Nevada cardiologists office.
Methods: Using FMTVDM, a private practice cardiologist independently investigated forty-four regions of interest (ROI) in 12-women with varying transitional levels of breast changes – including breast cancer.
Results: Using FMTVDM, a nuclear cardiologist without prior experience in MBI was able to easily measure changes in women’s breast tissue differentiating inflammatory and cancerous breast tissue from normal using the same camera used for MPI. These measured changes provided diagnostically useful information on cellular metabolism and regional blood flow changes (RBF) – the same properties which differentiate ischemic coronary artery disease (CAD) on myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI).
Conclusions: Quantitative MBI using FMTVDM allows differentiation of tissue types through measurement of enhanced regional blood flow and metabolic differences. Nuclear cardiologists have previously reported cases of breast cancer while conducting MPI studies. This investigation demonstrated that nuclear cardiologists can independently conduct MBI in addition to MPI studies using the nuclear cameras they currently use for MPI. |

Influence of Determinants of Diabetes on Sexual Quality using Multivariate Analysis of Variance |

Abstract :This paper seeks to give a better understanding of the influence of age, creatinine level, duration of diabetes, glucose level and pulse rate on diabetic-induced sexual dysfunction among people. The study employed two-way MANOVA with balanced samples of 115 each. Prior to the analysis, univariate and multivariate normality, linearity, equality of error and covariance matrices, and multicollinearity assumptions were satisfied. Significance was attained for both sex and marital status (P < 0.05), though their interaction effect was not significant (P > 0.05). Wald’s test for individual groups confirmed the hypothetical decision of MANOVA, though independent T2 failed to report significance for marital status. Under the parameter estimation, it was ascertained that the difference between the groups was in terms of age and creatinine levels of people. The model is also considered credible since bootstrap estimates converged to the empirical estimates. Even though this paper did not exhaust all metabolic and comorbid factors relating to diabetes, it is hoped that it provides an insight into some circumstances in the evolution of diabetes. |

Case Report: Management of Dengue Fever in the U.S. |

Abstract :A patient diagnosed with dengue fever was recently treated at a hospital in California. This rare case raises the concern that dengue fever may become a larger threat in the future for the contiguous United States, which is not currently considered endemic for the disease. Over the past decade, there has been an increase in the number of cases; therefore, dengue fever must be given greater consideration in the differential diagnosis, especially with a patient travel history to endemic parts of the world. This case report examines the management of a patient presenting with dengue fever and demonstrates that continued vigilance, prompt testing, and patient education can improve patient care and decrease disease prevalence in the future. |
