Cancer Cell Growth: - A Mini-Review Part-4: First threat (atherosclerotic lesions) |
Author : Cemil Koyunoglu |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The first 3 issues about cancer cells have been tried to explain -in the author papers- how the cells grow by using more energy in the tissue or organ compared to other cells, with the justification of scientific sources. The 4th series of articles will include detailed determinations about the initial threat of a cell growing in an organ or tissue to the organ or tissue by multiplying more than other cells. When a cell proliferates to a sufficient number of cells as mentioned in previous chapters, it begins to make its first threat. It fulfills this cell threat by expressing more than 100 disease forms within the organ. This is a phenomenon that occurs in all living cells. This was even seen in the most primitive invertebrates such as Mollusca and Arthropoda. Examinations of dinosaurs living 100 million years ago revealed the presence of neoplasms. Traces of the above constriction have been found in the cell work done on a 100,000-year-old human fossil. The most important sign of the first threat is phenotypic and genetic change. It creates the impression that it is threatened by a bacterial colony relative to other cells. These cells MIMIC the survival behavior and resistance of unicellular organisms that lived in the same ancient times. |

Caffeine and blood flow |
Author : Garry F Merrill |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Arguably, caffeine is the world’s leading drug of choice. It is estimated that in the U.S. and Europe at least ninety per cent of the adult populations consume caffeine-containing beverages several times each day. It is also known that consumers prefer their hot coffee to be in the range of 45-60°C (i.e. as hot as 140°F). If such a drink is spilled on the exposed skin it can cause full-thickness, third degree burns within 5 seconds. These are the kinds of burns that produce permanent damage and scarring for life. The prudence of consuming hot coffee and other hot drinks at such temperatures is questionable, especially when children and adolescents are involved. |

Legal framework governing Short-Term Medical Missions |
Author : Pedro Clarós |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The presence and influence of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the landscape of global health and development have dramatically increased over the past several decades.
Increasingly, Medical Practitioners in industrialized countries have become interested in global health issues, an interest that often takes the form of Short-Term international Medical Missions (STMMs).
His article will aim to help Medical Practitioners to have a synthetic overview of the legal framework governing medical volunteering in STMMs and give them some recommendations. The idea of this article started from the need to have an overview of the legal framework governing medical volunteering missions organized by the Claros’s Foundation named "Foundation Clarós" (hereinafter also "FC"). To better understand who this article is addressed to, it is interesting to bring to your attention the concrete case from which this article was born. The following is a brief outline of what FC is all about. FC is a private, non-profit organization (NGO) whose aim is to provide medical care and alleviate the suffering of people in health and medical precarious situations. |

Pericardial calcification with plain radiographic features of tuberculosis in a child: incidental finding and a case report |
Author : Sule Muhammad Baba |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Tuberculous pericarditis is frequently reported as the primary cause of pericardial calcification and occurs in about 1-2% of individuals with pulmonary tuberculosis, this however is a rare finding in the Western world. This is a 12-year-old male child that was referred from a peripheral health care center for plain radiograph of the chest on account of cough, easy fatiguability, night sweats, loss of weight, loss of appetite and dyspnea most times on excersion for more than a month duration.
The plain chest radiograph demonstrated normal cardiac size with a cardiothoracic ratio of about 55/120, there is circumferential radio-opacity of calcic density around the peripheral walls of the heart; the pericardial calcification. The vascular pedicle appears slightly widened. The lung fields show extensive streaky opacities with cystic lung changes bilaterally more marked on the left lung field where consolidation, loss of lung volume and pleural effusion are also demonstrated. A two-dimensional echocardiography showed mild-moderate pericardial effusion, thickening of both visceral and parietal pericardium, and echogenic fond-like structures protruding in to the pericardial cavity. A diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis with features of tuberculous pericarditis in a 12-year-old male child was established. The patient has been placed on anti-tuberculous drugs, hematinic, and parents advised on good and adequate diet with adequate rehydration and strict drug compliance. Screening of the siblings and members of the family with close contact have also been emphasized. We report the radiographic features of pulmonary tuberculosis and pericardial calcification in a 12-year-old male child due to its peculiar presentation. |

How to get ill, stay ill and die |
Author : Andrew Hague |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This is your death plan. Choose the easy options. Go with the flow. Do what you want to do. This will get you off the endless conveyor. No more effort and it’s all downhill. Be advised by advertisers, doctors who know nothing about food or exercise, a government that wants to squeeze you and business intent on profit.
If you are reading this thinking you can do the opposite, think again. You will be fighting powers you did not know exist. Perhaps you should be in a cave without money, friends or help. Survival in a civilised society is difficult. Only the brave can go against the grain.
There are three sectors: food, exercise and lifestyle. All three are waiting for you like monsters of the deep to suck you in and kill you. You think you are being looked after. Beware! |
