Teleworking and Cyber security in the Higher Education Institutions, Dominican Republic Case | Author : Rosilda Miranda Cruz | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The rise of remote work has produced an exponential growth in cyber attacks, during the first half of 2021, there was an increase in the number of cyber attack attempts, reaching more than 196 million cyber attack attempts from January to June 2021. The increase in cyber attacks leads institutions to strengthen their computer models, applying work strategies that provide security in the cyber work they do; as well as a solid construction of cyber security culture involving all members of the institution, where each person understands that their daily activities are at risk. The objective of investigating this topic is to identify the factors that affect cyber security in remote work, as explained by Abad, 2018, cited by James Navarro & Gainza Reyes, 2021. To ensure an acceptable level of security it is necessary to achieve security controls effectively, directly, and professionally to communicate to end-users. Cyber security experts consider it essential that institutions develop programs to prevent and avoid risks derived from the incorrect use of the organizations computer equipment, as they express James Navarro & Gainza Reyes, 2021; Leornardo, C., 2022; Fortinet, 2021; Garcia, A. A., 2019). Since a user can represent vulnerability for any entity, and a person can be a point used by cybercriminals, it can be sufficient reason to consider the awareness and training of collaborators as a priority of computer security. The main risks and weaknesses that have been identified, which have a key impact in the violation of systems and networks in private institutions in the last two years, the interviewees agreed that many organizations went virtual without being prepared, opening up to considerable gaps for emerging threats. |
| How Taiwanese Businesses Can Reduce Risk of Collapse Post-Coronavirus with Sales Strategies | Author : Huai Tien Wang, Kanglin Chiang | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The decline caused by COVID-19 in Taiwanese business revenue changed sales strategies in many businesses. This research will focus on how businesses can incite consumers to spend after the outbreak. Out of 400 returned questionnaires, there were 395 valid ones, a validity rate of 98.75%, conducted with methods such as descriptive statistical analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, variance analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results show that businesses must increase the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns with things such as limited-time sales and stricter criteria for giveaways. Simply put, time limits must be imposed on sales, and consumers must be got more from participating in giveaways to improve sales after COVID-19. |
| Framework for stochastic returns management in a closed-loop supply chain | Author : Yertai Tanai | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The ways of improving the performance of a supply chain through effectively and efficiently closing the loop have received considerable attention both from academic researchers and industry practitioners over the past two decades. This paper proposes a Closed-Loop Supply Chain (CLSC) model with independent third-party reverse logistics Provider (3PRLP) for returns processing. Realistically, product demand is generated by a stochastic process and a fraction of the units that are initially sold are returned by consumers for a full refund in every period. We model the forward flow interaction between the supplier, the retailer and 3PRLP by a widely accepted control policy that is lot size-reorder point inventory policy, which is detailed by the Markov process. We utilize a queuing network to capture reverse flow activities of the 3PRLP, which consists of customer decision delay and each of the 3PRLP activities. We characterize the expected profits for both firms and derive the effects of key parameters through a set of numerical examples. The results of the optimization analysis indicate that both firms’ benefits from processing returns increase with an increasing returns rate. This is due to fact that the retailer captures more profits through selling processed returns at the price of new product. The 3PRLP unambiguously earns more profit from processing the returns since fees from processing returns are sole source of revenue. Furthermore, the directions of effects of changes in the holding cost are similar for both the retailer and 3PRLP. However, the magnitude of effects of the same parameter is quite opposite. Interestingly, the retailer’s profit appears to be more sensitive to the holding cost than that of the 3PRLP’s profit. |
| The Gender Differences in Achievement Motivation of National Level Table Tennis Players’ in Sri Lanka | Author : H. P. N. Perera, E.D Warusawithana | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Sports have turned out to be a global success factor for many countries. It was revealed that the sports performance of table tennis players of Sri Lanka in the international arena is not attractive. This is proven from the medal tables of Olympic, Asian Games, and South Asian Games. There are many factors affecting sports performance which can be broadly categorized under player Related factors, coach-related factors, administrative factors and, Environmental factors. A review of the recent literature relating to player-related factors revealed that achievement motivation is among the key factors which had proven successive results. Therefore, the main purpose of the study was to analyze the correspondence between achievement motivation and perceived performance. Achievement motivation was assessed by the constructs namely, the hope of success and fear of failure. This study utilized gender as a moderating variable, suggesting that the perception of achievement motivation and performance differ as per gender. The study was conducted during all Island ranking tournaments held in January 2020 and considered only the table tennis players. The study population was 80 ; n=80 male and female top-ranking Table Tennis players. Universal sampling technique was used and considered top-ranking male and female players as the sample. Only 55 completed questionnaires were received and were utilized for data analysis. Achievement motivation questioner and athlete perception of player performance test were administered to collect the data. Statistical calculations were conducted using SPSS version 21. Cronbachs alpha obtained with the present sample was well above 0.7. Appropriate correlations with theoretically linked constructs demonstrated criterion and concurrent validity. Methods used to analyze data were general linear model and multiple linear regression. Hierarchical multiple regression was used to analyze the effects of the modering variable of gender. It was found that fear of failure was a significant predictor of perceived performance; p=0.025 whereas the hope of success was not a significant predictor p>0.05. When considering the overall impact of achievement motivation on performance, the results revealed that achievement motivation impacts performance p<0.05. Based on moderation interaction results obtained through the hierarchical multiple regression method, it was revealed that gender does not moderate the relationship between achievement motivation and perceived performance p<0.05. The findings of the study may influence researchers to engage in further research and also will be helpful for coaches to focus on players motivational goals to gain and generate higher performance. |
