Abstract :Abstract this researchseeks to reveal the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in realizing multiculturalism-based social interactions in elementaryschools. PAI is one lesson in the national curriculum that is taught at each educational institution.Islamic Religious Education is very appropriate to be carried out to realize harmonious social interaction amongstudents of different religions based onmulticulturalism. This research was conducted at Taman Harapan Elementary School and Bina Budi Mulia Elementary School Malang City, a private school that has multi-ethnic and multi-religious students.The problems raised in this study are how is the role of PAI in realizing multiculturalism-based social interaction amongstudents of different religions in elementary schools? The research method used is qualitative and the research approach is phenomenology.The Researcher collected data through observation, interviews and document review. Interviews were conducted with school principals, PAI teachers and students. Theresearch results showed that Taman Harapan Elementary School and Bina Budi Mulia Elementary School strongly supported the harmonious interaction of students of different religions in the schools.The Conducive social interactions occur in two forms, namely interactions within the classroom, and social interactions outside the classroom.The socialinteraction in the classroom takes place by working together, learning together, discussing and helping each other.Whilethe interactionsoutside the school take place in extracurricular activities such as sports, religious holidays, arts performances, outbound, and friendship interactions in the school environment.
